Interactive Islamic History Map
The atlas is the map on which everything comes together. On a single world map you see where the history of Islam unfolded, and with the timeline beneath it you move year by year through the centuries. Three epochs are fully developed at present: the Seerah of the Prophet ﷺ, from the Jahiliyyah through Mecca to Medina; the Rightly Guided Caliphs, from the first baiʿah to Abu Bakr ﵁ to the martyrdom of ʿAli ﵁; and Islam in West Africa, from the first caravans across the Sahara to the fall of the Sokoto Caliphate. Each epoch is divided into periods, each period into events, and every event has a place on the map and an article behind it. Thematic layers lie over the map as well, such as the Islamic Sciences, the Heroes of Islam and Orientalism, which cut across the epochs. Choose a year, choose a place, and read what happened there.
